Captain Andrew James Koss, 33, of Detroit, MI, formerly of Woolrich, passed away Monday, December 2, 2013 at his home.

Andrew was born in Leesburg, VA on February 13, 1980, the son of Anthony John Koss, Jr. of Lock Haven and the late Jean Durkott Koss.

Andrew was a 1998 graduate of Lock Haven High School and a 2002 graduate of Slippery Rock University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree and a commission in the U.S. Army as a 2nd Lieutenant.

Andrew served 16 months with the 172nd Striker Combat Team in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, where he was awarded the Bronze Star for his actions.

As a Captain, Andrew served as the Executive Officer of the 48th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, this time of out of Camp Phoenix, Afghanistan from 2009 to 2010.

On the completion of his commitment to military service, Andrew moved to his adopted city of Detroit, MI, where he fell in love with Amber Heather Krause, as well as the Tigers, Lions and Red Wings.

Andrew enjoyed a good crawfish boil, his time in Ocean City, MD, and most of all his family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 6 p.m. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington with Rev. Mark Riley officiating. Friends and family will be received at the funeral home Saturday from 4 until the time of the service.
