Obituary – Richard David Lucas
Richard David Lucas, 93 of Lock Haven, PA passed away September 2, 2024, at Lock Haven Rehab and Senior Living. He was born in Castanea on October 1,1930, to the late Robert W. and Margaret (Yarnell) Lucas.
Richard had been a graduate of Lock Haven High School and joined the US Army serving during the Korean Conflict serving from 1952 to 1953. He has been a member of the United Covenant United Methodist Church. He worked as a sexton for many of the local churches, including St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Great Island Presbyterian, the former Trinity United Methodist Church and had last served at the United Lutheran Church. Dick was a past president of the Lock Haven and Mill Hall Golden K club serving for many years. Richard “Dick” had also been a long-time employee of the former Yost Funeral Home, now Gedon Funeral Homes where he was the last member of the coffee club which was started in the 1960s by John Yost. Dick would never miss his coffee club and if the weather was inclement, he would walk. Dick will be remembered by the funeral home staff, his many friends and family for his witty humor and corny jokes.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Margaret Eminhizer Lucas who passed away in 1952 and his second wife Melva Clairsen Lucas who passed away in 2017.
Survivors include a daughter, Dianna (Gary) Weaver of Lock Haven; a sister, Betty Confer of Orviston; three grandsons: Travis (Jamie) Weaver of Furnace, Derrick (Vicki) Weaver of Lamar and Tyler Weaver of Lock Haven, four great grandsons: Kain, Grayson, Allie and Sawyer. Also surviving are two half-brothers: Richard Snyder and Arden Synder.
Arrangements are under the direction of Gedon Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, LLC. 121 W. Main St. Lock Haven, PA.
A private burial will be in the Dunnstown Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
