Paul A. Mayes, 84, of 330 Center St., Lock Haven and formerly of 1201 N. Hillview St. passed away Thursday, November 20, 2014 at Susque View Home.

Born on November 21, 1929 in Mill Hall, he was the son of the late Willis W. and Rose Shope Mayes.

Paul was a 1947 graduate of Lock Haven High School. He also attended Philadelphia Textile.

He was a Korean War Veteran, having served in the United States Air Force.

On August 8, 1953 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, he married his wife of 61 years, the former Josephine Vuccolo, who survives.

Paul was the Assistant Superintendant of the Bloomsburg Mills until its closing. He then worked at Champion Parts until his retirement. After retiring, Paul was employed by the Weis Markets for 23 years.

He was a member of the Holy Spirit Parish where he served as a Head Usher as well as on the Parish Council.

Paul served as the treasure of the Lock Haven Bobcat Booster Club. He was also a member of the American Legion in Beech Creek, Korean War Vets of Lycoming County, and a former member of the Knights of Columbus.

He loved hunting and fishing.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons: Paul Allen (Carolyn) Mayes of Chambersburg, Dr. Larry W. (Tonya) Mayes of Reading, and Stephen M. (Jennifer) Mayes of Sewickley; a brother, Willard Mayes of Lock Haven; three sisters: Minnie Mann of Lock Haven, Cheryl McCombs of Howard, and Deanna Ball of Delaware; six grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and three step-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Arthur Mayes, and a sister, Bernice Welch.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 24, 2014 at 11 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 3 E. Walnut St., Lock Haven. Burial will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery.

Friends and family will be received at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington on Sunday from 6 until 8 p.m.
