Obituary – Walter S. Fye

Walter S. Fye, 89, of Mill Hall passed away Saturday, May 10, 2025 at his home.

Born in Salona on May 9, 1936, he was a son of the late Alfred and Ethel Houtz Fye, Sr.

Walter proudly served in the United States Army National Guard from 1954 until 1962.
In his early years, he worked in roofing. For most of his life, though, he was a truck driver, driving for James Webb and Lee Bowman.

On June 1, 1974, he married the former Patricia Perry with whom he shared 50 years of marriage.
Walter was a past member of the VFW.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and going to camp. Walter also liked attending races at the racetracks and tinkering with mechanics in the garage. He loved watching the birds that visited his yard.

Most cherished, though, was the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed visits with his grandpuppy, Lizzy.

Along with his wife, Patricia Fye, he is survived by his children: Candice (Richard) Fye White of Woolrich, Kimberly Fye of Mill Hall, Teala (Raymond “Ed”) Fye Mantle of Beech Creek and Lisha Fye of Lock Haven; step-sons, Stephen Aikey and David Aikey, both of Alaska; siblings: Shirley Killinger of Beech Creek, Judy Bradley of Lock Haven and Beverly Kreitz of Lock Haven; 22 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and 7 great, great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Ralph, Alfred “Peanut,” Jr., Ronald, Richard, Robert and William Fye; sisters, Betty Houtz Wagner and Mary Ellen Fye Nihart; and the mother of his four children, Mary Lou Killinger Fye.

Walter was thankful for the love and support of his caregivers: his daughter, Teala; granddaughter, Shonna; and great granddaughter, Baylyn.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2025 from 6 until 8 PM at Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, PA 17745.

Memorial contributions in Walter’s name may be made to a local animal shelter or rescue of your choice.
