Obituary – Robert L. Kane

Robert L. Kane, 88, of Castanea passed away Monday, May 12, 2025 at his home. He was born in Lock Haven on October 23, 1936 to John Henry and Georganna Smith Kane.

Robert attended the St. Agnes Catholic School and the Lock Haven High School and was of the catholic faith. He was united in marriage to the former Ann Boyer Harvey on May 10, 1957, who survives at home.

Bob had served in the PA National Guard’s 728th Maintenance Battalion, Lock Haven, had been employed as a cook at Custom Management, Bentley Hall, Lock Haven University, Belle Springs in Mackeyville and the Holiday Inn in Lamar, and he had worked for 17 years at the Clinton Paper Company.

Bob enjoyed spending many hours in the outdoors on his mountain land, hunting, playing the lottery, and playing cards with his family and friends with his beverage of choice. He was a life member of the Castanea Fire Company and Social Club, Lock Haven Sons of Italy, Lock Haven Moose, and the Lock Haven Legion.

Survivors include his wife; Ann, a brother; Roger B. (Cathy) Kane. His extended family, Chuck and Sabrina Zimmerman of Mill Hall, Kayla(Zimmerman) Jay Katzmaier of Montoursville and Andrew Dole of Pittsburgh.
Bob was preceded in death by his son; Brian Mark Kane who passed away in 1988, four sisters; Eleanor (June) Pearson, Anna (Rusty) Smith Wallace, Susie Nestlerode and Patricia (Pat) Bennett.

A memorial service for Robert L. Kane will be held Friday, May 16, 2025 at 11:00 am in the Gedon Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, LLC, 121 W. Main St., Lock Haven. Officiating will be Deacon Chip Young of the Holy Spirit Parish. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in the Rest Haven Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials will be received for UPMC Hospice through the funeral home or mail to Divine Providence 1100 Grampian Blvd, Williamsport, PA 17701.
