Bucktail runs over Lewisburg and Millville, locks up district playoff spot

Lewisburg- The Lady Bucks are officially locked in to the upcoming PIAA District IV 1A playoffs, The two-time defending champions qualified by running over 3A Lewisburg by a 19-0 count.
Bucktail dominated the diamond in Lewisburg by following up their game 1 mercy rule win by trouncing Millville 18-0 in game 2, a 3 inning win that seen freshman Carrie Ditty toss her third no-hitter of the season and Eva Sockman collecting her 100th career RBI.
Against the Lady Green Dragons, Bucktail started off hot by building a 10-0 lead within the game’s first two innings. Lewisburg pitching struggled during the afternoon contest, walking 14 batters.
The Lady Bucks scattered solo runs in the third and fourth inning, but a huge 7-run fifth inning would be too much for the Lady Green Dragons to overcome.
The win put the Lady Bucks at 9-7 on the season and officially qualified them for another trip to the postseason, their seventh straight trip.
Bucktail had 11 hits, led by Kendall Wagner, Rebekah Conway, Eva Sockman and Matti Mason with two hits each. Wagner and Conway both had doubles. Makenna Stone, Lola English and Angel Kmetz added singles, with English knocking in 4 runs.
In game 2, Bucktail put on another hitting clinic behind the strong arm of Ditty.
The Lady Bucks raced out to a quick 8-0 lead on the Lady Quakers in the first two innings.
Ditty allowed just one walk in three innings of work and her offense exploded in the top of the third inning. Bucktail plated 10 runs, including an inside the park home run from Lola English. Ditty shut down Millville in the bottom of the inning to give Bucktail the 18-0 mercy rule win against their Mid Penn Conference foe.
The Lady Bucks collected 17 base knocks on the day, led by a big day from English. English went 4 for 4 with the inside the parker and 3 singles. Eva Sockman drove in 4 runs and hit the 100 RBI career mark. She also collected 3 hits, including a pair of doubles.
Makenna Stone piled up 3 hits, Angel Kmetz and Carrie Ditty both had a pair of hits and both had doubles. Kendall Wagner had a double, Rebekah Conway and Matti Mason added singles.
Bucktail improved to 10-7 on the season and are set to conclude their regular season at Cameron County tomorrow afternoon.
The Lady Bucks will find out who, when and where they’ll be this postseason on Sunday.
Lewisburg downed Milleville 22-7 in the days final game at Lewisburg.
