Obituary
Ernestine L. Hamilton, 63, of Salona was welcomed home by her Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 6, 2021 after a brief stay at Fulmer’s Personal Care Home.
Born May 28, 1958 in Doylestown, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Anna Mary (Gahman) Detweiler.
Ernestine was a 1977 graduate of Tyrone High School.
On December 1, 1979, she married John D. Hamilton, whom survives in Salona. Together, they shared 42 years of marriage.
In her earlier years she was employed by Gross’ Poultry, Doylestown, Pizza Hut, Tyrone and as a deli clerk at the grocery store.
Ernestine was Baptist by faith and had a strong relationship with her Lord.
She enjoyed crafting, reading and flowers. Ernestine was a love of Gospel music and especially enjoyed attending the concerts at Lamar Lighthouse Camp.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Christine Hamilton of Williamsport and Sara (Jes) Romero of Trego, Montana; three brothers: R. Dennis (Cathy) Detweiler of Telford, John W. (Kim) Detweiler of Penfield and Roger D. (Jaye) Detweiler of Ellisburg, New York; a sister, Marcia Weimer of Howard; three aunts: Bertha Rush, Geraldine Ruth and Betti Christman; two uncles, Donald Detweiler and Clyde Gahman; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by two aunts, Marie Styer and Blanche Bechtel and seven uncles: Allen and Ernest Detweiler and Emerson, Willard, Clifford, Edward and Ronald Gahman.
A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date.
Just as Ernestine valued donating blood with the American Red Cross, her family suggests that you also consider donating blood as a way of memorializing her.
