Obituary

Michael L. Doebler, 87, of Flemington passed away Friday, October 29, 2021 at UPMC Haven Place, Lock Haven.

Born June 9, 1934 in Lock Haven, he was a son of the late George and Margaret Kline Doebler.

Michael was a 1952 graduate of Lock Haven High School.  He then attended Lock Haven Teacher’s College for two years before joining the United States Navy.  During his service, he directed the band for four years.  After being honorably discharged, Michael completed his degree at Newport Institute.

On September 1, 1961, Michael married his love, the former Beverly M. Kunes, with whom he shared 60 years of marriage.

Michael was employed at American Color and Chemical for 23 years before working at Woolrich Woolen Mills.  He then was employed by Clinton County, serving as the Central Court Administrator for Judge Saxton for 12 years.

For more than 50 years, he was a member of the Flemington First Church of Christ.  He served in various capacities including as Deacon, Elder and Choir Director.

Michael was a member of Lafayette Lodge 199, the Williamsport Consistory, the Shriners in Altoona and Clinton County Shrine Club as well as a life member of the Beech Creek American Legion and Lock Haven Elks.  Michael was a Board Member of the Clinton County Recreation Authority for 48 years, serving as Chairman of the Board for 36 of those years as well as the Chairman of Belle Springs Golf Course.  Additionally, he served on Flemington Borough Council, holding the position of President for several years.

Michael was an avid golfer.

In addition to his wife, Beverly K. Doebler of Flemington, he is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kline Doebler and a sister, Ruth Bonnell.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 5, 2021 at 12 Noon at Flemington First Church of Christ, 714 Canal St., Mill Hall with Rev. Mark Riley officiating.  Interment with Military Rites will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park.

Friends and family will be received at the church on Friday from 9 A.M. until time of the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to either the Flemington First Church of Christ or Belle Springs Golf Course through the funeral home.
