Obituary

Joyce R. (nee Rosamilia) Sheldon

9/5/1941 – 6/26/2021

It was more than just a “How was your day” when she asked you how your day was.

It was much more than just a “What do you want to eat?” when she wanted to feed you. And oh, how she wanted to feed you.

It was so much more than just a hug when she embraced you.

Joyce had the ability to understand what each person in her life needed.  She had the capacity to give everyone the love they needed in the exact way they needed it. Joyce had an endless supply of support, understanding, guidance, advice, and broccoli rabe waiting for you.

You felt like you did not need for anything when she wrapped her love around your heart and soul.  She loved so many people and touched their lives in such meaningful ways.

Joyce was wise, intelligent, strong, moral, kind, and feisty.  With every belly laugh you shared with her, you were sure to get a call the next day to “recap” your great conversation.  It was always just as delicious heated up the next day as it was served the first time around.

We are all better people for knowing her gentle touch.

Joyce was born on September 5, 1941 in Renovo, PA to Carmen and Jenniemay (nee Johnson) Rosamilia. Joyce is survived by her husband of 59 years, Joseph F. Sheldon.  She was preceded in death by her brother, Carmen Rosamilia, Jr.  She is survived by her sister, Mary Katherine Kephart; daughter Mary Frances Sheldon; daughter and spouse, Emily and Mike Scott; son and wife, Joseph and Maricelle Sheldon; son and wife, Jesse and Lauren Sheldon; grandchildren Carole, Gregory, Elise, Ava Joyce, Zoe, Mia, Presley, Scarlett, Emersyn; great grandchildren Hailey, Hayden, Hannah.

Joyce lived her life as a shining example of integrity, grace, and strength. She made her own choices and scripted her own story every day of her life through her final arrangements. We have great comfort in knowing she did it her way. All the way.

In lieu of a formal service, and in accordance with her wishes, we ask that you share your love, stories, and pictures of Joyce with us here.
