Chad Anthony Named LHU Women’s Golf Coach
LOCK HAVEN – Chad Anthony has been named Lock Haven University’s head women’s golf coach.
Anthony will usher in a new era for LHU athletics as he will serve as the school’s first ever women’s golf coach. In what served as a historic moment for LHU on Aug. 6, 2018, it was announced that the university would be adding women’s varsity golf, a sport never sponsored by LHU at the varsity level.
The LHU women’s golf team will compete for the first time this fall.
Anthony brings with him 13 years of experience in the golf industry and for the last four seasons, he’s served as the head varsity golf coach at nearby Milton High School.
“It’s a true honor to be named Lock Haven University’s first ever women’s golf coach and I’m excited for this next chapter in Haven athletics,” said Anthony. “I’m looking forward to building the program from the start and I can’t wait to see collegiate women’s golf being played in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania. I think this is the beginning of something special.”
LHU Director of Athletics Dr. Tom Gioglio is also excited about the future of the school’s new athletic team.
“I am thrilled that Chad Anthony has agreed to become our first head women’s golf coach and I am confident that Chad will provide quality leadership for our new program as well as the work ethic to achieve success,” said Gioglio.
Tasked with rebuilding the Milton High School program, Anthony did just that after taking over as head coach in 2016. Not only did Anthony help the program grow in the sheer number of student-athletes, but he also guided them back to winning ways. Last season in the fall of 2019, Milton finished with seven wins behind Anthony’s leadership.
Since 2010, Anthony also served as the director of golf and head golf professional at Wynding Brook Golf Club. There, he gained valuable management, leadership and fundraising experience, and he’s also skilled in golf club repair, fitting and teaching.
Recently, Anthony took over as the head professional at Clinton Country Club.
A former collegiate baseball player, Anthony graduated from Division II Belmont Abbey College in 2002 with a degree in therapeutic recreation.
