School Board Member Jeff Johnston Resigns
By Christopher Miller
BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – School Board Member Jeff Johnston, serving Region IV (Dunstable, Wayne, Pine Creek II Townships) has resigned from the Keystone Central School District Board of Education effective January 1, 2026.
“I have served for six years with integrity. Over the past two years it has become concerning to me that the persistent lack of trust toward the administrative staff as reflected in the repeated demands for information that has already been provided, shows an ongoing pattern of micromanagement that is inconsistent with the appropriate role of a good school board member,” he said in his resignation letter to the board.
“The primary responsibility is to always act first and foremost in the best interest of the students and that priority has ben displaced by an excessive focus on cost-cutting at the expense of the quality of education and student needs. Fiscal responsibility is essential but it needs to be balanced with a clear commitment to student success. That balance is not maintained.”
“With the current trajectory of board leadership I can no longer serve in good conscience. I am grateful to the administration and staff I worked very closely with over the last six years. I respect their dedication to the students and community and wish them all many years of continued success.”
Jeff started serving the students and families of the district in 2019.
School Board President Elisabeth Lynch requested that the “necessary steps to find a replacement for Jeff begin immediately.”
Superintendent Dr. Frank Redmon replied that the advertisement for candidates will be created and shared within the coming days. Interviews for the now vacant seat will begin during the week of January 5. The law states that the district has 30 days to fill the vacancy effective January 1, 2026.
