LHU Men’s Basketball falls at Clarion

CLARION – The Lock Haven men’s basketball team fell on the road at Clarion 84-74 in a non-conference game on Saturday afternoon (Dec. 13).

The Bald Eagles shot 50 percent (16-of-32) from the field in the first half and trailed by just one (40-39) heading into the break.

However, The Haven’s offense cooled off in the second half to 38 percent (13-of-34), while Clarion knocked down exactly half of its attempts (15-of-30) to pull away in the second half.

Lock Haven’s final lead of the night came at the 8:15 mark, 66-65, but Clarion went on a 19-8 run over the final eight minutes to secure the victory.

Both schools knocked down 12 shots from behind the arch, but Clarion went a perfect 10-of-10 from the charity stripe and shot a game-high 48 percent from the floor to make up the scoring difference.

Dyllon Scott led the way for The Haven as he finished with a double-double with a career-high 23 points and 10 rebounds. Scott finished 8-of-10 from the field, 3-of-4 from three and 4-of-4 from the foul line.

Blake Deegan and Luke Kennevan both finished with 11 points, while Deegan pulled in seven rebounds.

Devon Nelson led the second unit with 10 points.

Lock Haven moves to 4-4 on the season and Clarion improved to 5-4.

Lock Haven remain on the road and will visit Seton Hill on Wednesday, Dec. 17 (4 p.m.) in Greensburg, Pennsylvania for a PSAC East vs. West crossover game.
