Renovo Library Dedicates Reading Garden in Memory of Marlene Lewis
By Kevin Rauch
The Renovo Area Public Library recently held a dedication as they re-named their reading garden after longtime friend of the library Marlene Lewis. A constant face at the library over the last couple of decades, Marlene had been an employee, vice-president of the Board, patron, but most importantly a dedicated and faithful voice for the non-profit library.
An avid reader, Marlene would often suggest your next read, compare notes with books that others have read that she had as well, and of course was always up for a lively debate if one felt up to the task. One of Marlene’s most endearing qualities was no matter whether you accepted her advice on a book or challenged her on the matter, you knew the conversation would end with her trademark smile, that quickly let you to know you were in presence of a friend.
It is hoped that those that knew Marlene will visit the garden when the weather permits and maybe even sit on the bench with her name on it as they flip through the pages of a new book, or a classic that she also likely read.
