Central Mountain Girls Tennis Downs Shikellamy 4-1

MILL HALL – Central Mountain girls tennis avenged an earlier-season loss to Shikellamy with a 4-1 victory at home on Tuesday.

The Wildcats controlled singles play, sweeping all three matches. At the top spot, Addison Lindsay breezed past Emory Underkoffler 6-0, 6-0. Lane Walker followed with a strong 6-2, 6-1 win over Camryn Marlow, and Kassie Williams added a 6-1, 6-3 victory against Emma Erdley at No. 3.

In doubles, Shikellamy’s Makenna Hoffman and Mariela Lainez claimed a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 1, but Central Mountain sealed the match as Leah Wian and Tess Akeley teamed up for a convincing 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 2.

Head coach Tom Zettle praised his team’s response, saying, “The girls played great today redeeming themselves from an earlier loss to Shik this year. We were playing without our No. 2 Lucy Walker, who is nursing a back injury.”

With the win, Central Mountain earned redemption and will travel to Central Columbia on Thursday.
