Bucktail outlasts Montgomery in Mid Penn opener, 3-2

FARWELL- Bucktail tennis began their 2025 Mid Penn Conference slate at home on Wednesday against a solid Montgomery team that nearly knocked the Lady Bucks from the ranks of the unbeatens.
Bucktail picked up a huge win from Eva Sockman at number one and a crucial victory from Lola English at number three singles to set up a nice doubles victory from McKenna Bissman and Kelsie Wagner to seal up the 3-2 home win.
Sockman outlasted Montgomery’s Cali Barnes in a nearly 3-hour marathon by a 6-7, 7-5, 6-2 score. The Lady Bucks suffered a set back at Number two when the Lady Red Raiders’ Madisyn Miller downed Kendall Wagner 6-2, 6-3.
English came on and defeated Ava Hartman 6-0, 2-6, 6-1.
The Bissman and Kelsie Wagner duo sealed the victory for Bucktail by defeating Ariana Snyder and Lainie Solano 7-6, 6-2.
Bucktail’s number two doubles team of Carrie Ditty and Riley Salizonni fell 6-4, 3-6, 4-6 to Montgomery’s Avelyn Moore and Emily Miller to set the 3-2 final.
Bucktail improved to 4-0 and 1-0 in the Mid Penn Conference and will travel to Wellsboro today in a rematch of their 5-0 home match win over the Lady Green Hornets on Tuesday.
