Lady Wildcats Fall to Hollidaysburg
HOLLIDAYSBURG – After opening the season with a strong win at Selinsgrove, the Central Mountain girls tennis team ran into a tough Hollidaysburg squad on Wednesday, falling 4-1 on the road.
The Lady Wildcats picked up their lone victory at the top singles spot, where returning state champion Addison Lindsay cruised past Crosby Denis 6-0, 6-0. Hollidaysburg swept the remaining matches to secure the team win.
Freshman Lucy Walker dropped a 6-2, 6-1 decision to Grace Muriceak at No. 2 singles, while sister Lane Walker fell 6-0, 6-0 to Emma Moritz at No. 3. In doubles, Olivia Panaro and Rinna Stiffler topped Audra Eaton and Kassie Williams 6-1, 6-0, and Taylor Eardley and Brooklyn Klingner defeated Leah Wian and Tess Akeley 6-1, 6-1.
In junior varsity play, Harper Coleman earned a singles win, blanking her opponent 8-0. The doubles results included Kylee Markle and Erin Thompson (0-6), Erin Packer and Meilin Talbot (5-7), Sofia Neitz and Isabella Parker (0-6), and Zoe McElroy and Amelia Svederus (1-6).
Central Mountain returns home Thursday to host Jersey Shore.
