Water Issues Along Cottage Lane, Wawa Closes on Property, More Discussed at Bald Eagle Township

By Christopher Miller

BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – Bald Eagle Township Supervisors met Monday evening to discuss regular township business.

One of the main points of discussion for the supervisors was local businesses and residents along Cottage Lane near Haywood’s and Clinton Country Club.

“We’ve received a call from local businesses over there with issues with Suburban Water and water crossing from the creek at Haywood’s into other agencies,” Township Supervisor Steve Tasselli said.

“It continues to be brought to our attention. The people from Cottage Lane have been over here a bunch of times and we issued and passed an ordinance and have followed suit on it, but there has been no resolution to the problem. It dumbfounds me that we cannot get anywhere with this but unfortunately our hands are tied with it. The public utility should be taking care of it.”

Supervisor Kenny McGhee, Jr. added that “Suburban says it is not theirs.”

In other news, Wawa is one step further to beginning construction within the township.

The property, that was the former Creekside Restaurant, was recently sold for $900,000. The Record reached out to the builders, Provco Pinegood Mill Hall, LLC of Villanova, for detailed information and a timeline of the build.

It was reported that PennDOT will be doing some drainage improvements at some point in the future along Hogan Boulevard. They reached out requesting a map of the current draining there.

The road project along Draketown Road is complete and construction will soon begin on the part that crosses Hogan Boulevard to the auto parts store. No prices were provided for the supervisors to vote on.

Line painting on Hogan Boulevard will be taking place within the next week or two. Motorists are kindly informed to be cautious of slow moving vehicles and workers in the area while painting is taking place.

Township employee Derek recently passed his employee review earning a 4.3 out of a possible 5 points. Tasselli praised Derek, saying that he has been with the township for six years, he takes charge, and is very good at what he does. Supervisors voted unanimously to grant him a 5% raise which was allotted for in the township budget.

A small parcel of township-owned land along Shade Hollow Road will soon be up for bid within the township. Tasselli said the supervisors have an interest in selling it and are looking into the options to be able to put it out for bid. The township purchased the parcel in 1994 for $200. The parcel will be out for bid and advertised in local newspapers after supervisors receive solicitor feedback for listing the property.

Plunket Run Road is a “top contender” for a road project next year, but because of this pipes under the road should be replaced this year. The project has been put on the top of the list for road work, and with budget season right around the corner, township officials have decided to keep this line item on future meeting agendas for review.

Lastly, Brews in the Barn will be happening on October 25. Bald Eagle Township will “do what we can to aid them” in traffic flow and road closures for the event at Millbrook Playhouse.

“It is a great event for the township and the county,” Tasselli said. “It brings a lot of people here and has a tremendous social atmosphere.”
