General Hunting & Trapping Licenses on Sale Monday, June 23
By Christopher Miller
LOCK HAVEN – It may still be months away, but general hunting and trapping licenses go on sale Monday, June 23 across the commonwealth.
Licenses are available at select locations in-person (see below) and online at HuntFish.pa.gov.
Clinton County, in Wildlife Management Unit (WMU) 2G, remains to be one of the most popular areas to hunt within the commonwealth. The Game Commission has set the limit of antlerless deer licenses available within this WMU to 57,000 an addition of 20,000 over last year.
This is the first year that many hunters and trappers will not be able to acquire a license through Unkel Joe’s Woodshed in Flemington, a staple of the community for more than 50 years that closed its doors last year. The employees at Unkel Joe’s saw many people, their children, and even their grandchildren, come in to purchase their first licenses over the years.
The regular firearms season statewide for antlered and antlerless will be November 29, Sunday, November 30, and December 1-13 with the exception of Sunday, December 7. A recent proposal to repeal the state’s Sunday hunting prohibition is sitting in the state senate ahead of their return to session on Monday, June 23.
Last year, the sale of hunting licenses generated more than $59 million in revenue for the Game Commission.
One antlered deer is allowed per hunting license year, with antlerless deer being allowed per required antlerless license or permit.
