Ruff Day? Long Beans Coffee Co. Rolls into Business June 7
By Christopher Miller
LOCK HAVEN – Dogs and coffee. A match made in caffeine heaven?
For Riley Fischer, Long Beans Coffee Company combines her passions of coffee and pups into a new business venture.
“I was always obsessed with coffee, I really can’t go a day without it,” Fischer said. “I married my husband, Zander, after we graduated from high school and we moved to Spokane where he was stationed. Out west there are coffee shops all over the place, sometimes in little sheds on the side of the road.”
After three years in Spokane Riley decided to make her dream of owning a coffee shop a reality.
“My family knew we wanted this, my uncle and aunt Chris and Jen Gramlich asked how serious we were about starting this business, and I was really nervous about this but they own their own businesses and they were able to walk me through the process of setting everything up,” Riley said. “I would have been so lost without them.”
Long Beans Coffee Company combines coffee and Riley’s passion for her dachshund’s Milo and Maeve, keeping the naming of the dogs starting with the letter “M” tradition alive which started with her first dogs Max and Marshall, a Fox Terrier/Pug Mix and Min Pin, respectively.
“I am so obsessed with everything about them; their whole personality so I based this business around them, even giving some of my specialty coffee drinks names related to dogs and doxie’s, which is slang for dachshund,” she explained.
With clever drink names such as The Long Bean, Short N Sweet, Lower Rider, Doxie Delight, Tail Twister, and Toffee Trotter, and some names after her own pups Milo and Maeve, Long Beans Coffee Co. will delight the animal lover in all of us.
Feeling like you need a quick boost of caffeine and energy? A “Zoomie,” named by Riley’s graphic designer, is a fruity flavored, Red Bull-infused drink that was modulated after a favorite of her husband’s when they visited the popular coffee shop chain Dutch Bros., which can be found in the southern and western states primarily.
Other menu items will include teas, lemonade, lattes, and cold brew coffee with baked goods available occasionally.
While hours will vary by location, they will stay the same once established at each location. For example, the hours will be different from site to site, but once there, the hours will remain the same per site.
Long Beans Coffee Co. will be parked at Millbrook Plaza in Mill Hall, UPMC Hospital in Williamsport, Divine Providence Hospital in Williamsport, various farmers markets and pop up events, Sentimental Journey Fly-In, Evergreen Commons at Commonwealth University-Lock Haven, Williamsport First Fridays, and more. Check the Long Beans Coffee Co. Facebook Page for more information on future locations. Online ordering will also be available as well as booking for private events.
“The long-term goal is for us to have a physical, brick and mortar location, but we will be in our mobile unit starting out,” Riley said.
