Lady ‘Cats Fall to Bellefonte, 55-23

BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – It was another tough outing for the Central Mountain girls’ basketball program as they hosted Bellefonte for their last regular season home game of the season. Unfortunately it was the Lady Red Raiders who would earn a 55-23 victory over the Lady ‘Cats.

The Lady Wildcats suffered from multiple turnovers and missed shots in the early going and trailed Bellefonte 12-7 at the end of the first quarter. Then CM was stifled even further in the second quarter when the Lady Red Raiders sprinted past the hosts 13-2 in the second quarter for a substantial 25-9 lead at halftime.

It was more of the same in the second half as Bellefonte kept up the pressure outscoring the Lady Wildcats 19-7 in the third quarter and 11-7 in the fourth period for the 55-23 win.

The loss takes Central Mountain to 0-21 overall and 0-10 in the PHAC.

Offensively, it was a balanced attack for Central Mountain. Taylor Fletcher scored 9, Morgan Wetzel with 4, while Marissa Moyer and Quinlynn McCann each scored 3 points. Madison Courter and Talyn Fredericks each had 2 points to round out the scoring.

The Lady Wildcats recognized the elementary girl’s basketball teams in a special ceremony before the game.

The Lady ‘Cats have one game remaining on their schedule, a road trip to Bellefonte on Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018. There will be no jayvee game at Bellefonte and the varsity game will begin at 6:30 p.m.
