Shamokin Gets Past Lady Wildcats 4-3

cm-soccerWOODWARD TOWNSHIP – Central Mountain (0-3) kept stride with Shamokin the the majority of the game but fell 4-3 when the Lady Indians scored the tie-braking goal with less than 10 minutes remaining in the contest.

The game was played at West Branch Soccer complex as a showcase even between games for the CM junior high tournament.

The Lady ‘Cats scored first when Sloane Dressler scored on a penalty kick with just over a minute of play. Shamokin answered back with with two quick scores of their own to hold a 2-1 advantage but Dressler would knot the score at 2-2 on her second PK of the day after she was fouled in the box. Sadie McCaleb would give Central Mountain the lead at the 39:00 mark of the first period with the assist coming from Avery Baker on the play.

The Lady Wildcats held on for a slim 3-2 lead at the intermission but Shamokin responded quickly to tie the score once again at 3-3 early in the second period, then tacking on the the winning score late in the period.

Central Mountain would threaten offensively several time in the second period with Shamokin presenting just enough defense to keep the Lady ‘Cats at bay.

Shamokin held a 10-7 advantage on shots on goal and 5-2 on corner kicks in the game. CM keeper, Alyssa Dickey chocking up 5 saves on the day.

Central Mountain will next see action on the road a rival Jersey Shore on Monday, Sept. 11, 2017.
