Lady Wildcats Drop St. Joe’s 3-1

cm-volleyballBALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP – Central Mountain bookended big wins and a narrow loss to best visiting St. Joseph’s Academy 3-1 in girls’ volleyball Wednesday evening.

The Lady Wildcats made short order of the first two games downing the Lady Wolves 25-10 and 25-11 respectively then faltered a bit allowing St. Joe’s to hang with them stride-for-stride down the stretch. St. Joe’s eventually held a 20-16 advantage and eventually captured a 25-23 win for Game 3.

In Game 4, Central Mountain regained their intensity and soon put the contest away with a 25-13 win, leading by double digits most of the way.

Throughout the evening, Lady ‘Cat coach, Megan Ulster was able to substitute freely and often to allow her entire roster some valuable varsity playing time.

Leading the offensive effort was Elaina Eckley with 12 kills followed by Vanessa Soo with 7, Pamela Gunsallas with 5 and Noel More with 4. Kelsi Buckwalter amassed 10 aces with Soo adding 4 and Eckley adding 3 more. Madalyn Bashore had 18 assists.

Defensively, Maegan Miller led the night with 19 digs while Makenna Bittner and Bashore each adding 6 digs.

The Lady Wildcats are off until Monday, Oct. 17, 2016 when they will travel to Shamokin.
