Rumor has it …

Rumor has it, not a clue if it’s true, but there are those who think Chuck Probst, Jr., a senior at  Bucktail Area High School may well be a future baseball great. Perhaps of the ranks as Derek Jeter and maybe he’ll be a New York Yankee, his favorite team.  Chuck has been playing baseball since he’s been about five, and for Bucktail during his high school years. The Bucktail baseball field could use a new scoreboard and Chuck plans to be the one get it. He is holding a chicken and biscuit dinner on January 7th from 4 p.m. at the Chapman Township Fire Hall.

The dinner is a phase of his senior project, to raise funds to purchase a new $scoreboard for  Bucktail. The cost of the scoreboard is $2,000. The cost of a dinner is $8.
Chuck’s dream is to play professional baseball and it’s not farfetched. He’s loved the game all his life and is currently being pursued by Gettysburg College, his mother said. His favorite player by the way is Jeter.  To order dinners or for more information call 923-2932.

New Year’s Eve …

Many of you will get this issue of The Record on Tuesday, New Year’s Eve. And many of you will be celebrating at parties. Members of the Renovo Sons of Italy can party to the music of Bud & The Dynamics. In North Bend tradition continues as Phyllis Kouff is holding the annual New Year’s Eve party at the North Bend Hotel. The Sportsman’s will have a buffet from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and there will be a party at Black Forest Inn beginning at 9 p.m.

In Tamarack, a New Year’s Eve service will be held at Sunset Memorial  Church at 6 p.m. There will be games and light refreshment s after the service. The public is invited. I’m sure there are other New Year’s Eve celebrations; the aforementioned ones are those I’m aware of as I write this.
