LOCK HAVEN – On Wednesday, April 23, 2014 area veterans were invited to downtown Lock Haven for a very special photo session.

Inspired by a photo taken in 1898, the Clinton County Veterans Affairs office coordinated a re-creation of the image for current Clinton County residents who have served their country in uniform.

Military service has always been a responsibility that Clinton County residents take seriously with thousands answering the call of duty dating back to the very origins of our country. Several monuments throughout the county commemorate those who have served, this photo opportunity being the most recent honor.

Approximately 200 veterans posed on the front steps of the Clinton County Court House for the photo. The group spanned service from World War II, Korea, Viet Nam and included veterans who served more recently in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Our Nations’s history has been blessed by the willingness of it’s best and brightest are willing to serve as citizen soldiers. They serve in times of need, then return to civilian life when the crisis is over. They serve with distinction willing to suffer in the process. We are all blessed to have such selfless neighbors. The Record-online joins with all of Clinton County in expressing our gratitude to all those who have served.
