RENOVO—The Santander bank on Erie Avenue in Renovo was the victim of an armed robbery about 11:30 this morning.

Police this afternoon had closed off the Summerson Mountain Road in Chapman Township and were reported searching the area for a suspect.

A witness told therecord-online he was working near the bank when he saw a person dressed in all black and wearing a black ski mask run across Erie Avenue and through the bushes on the east side of the old Renovo rail shops, then take off on a motorcycle in an easterly direction.

As of noon today the bank was closed to customers, several tellers still inside. Two Lock Haven police officers arrived and went inside, providing assistance to the investigation. Meanwhile Renovo police, who are handling the case, and state police had traveled to the Summerson Mountain area where there were reports the robber had fled. Summerson Mountain residents were detained along Route 120 at the base of the mountain while police were reported searching the area.

The nearby Bucktail school complex was reported on lock down with social media reports that students there would be dismissed at their regular departure time, with the exception of those residing in the Summerson Mountain area.

One police officer said the robber carried a handgun, but additional information was not immediately available because of the ongoing search for the perpetrator. No injuries were reported in the late morning crime.
