BALD EAGLE TOWNSHIP — Longtime Keystone Central School Board President Jack Peters, stung by his defeat in the Tuesday primary election, has resigned from his board position.

“therecord-online.com” has learned that Peters Wednesday sent a letter to his fellow board members, informing them of his decision to leave the school board after 16 years of service, the last eight as board president.

Those who saw the letter said Peters voiced frustration that the public did not appreciate his quarter century of volunteer community service but said he had many good friends during his time in public service.

Peters had finished third in the school district’s Region VIII in the Tuesday election behind former district administrator Jeff Johnston and Lock Haven University staff member Boise Miller. Johnston won the Republican nomination and he and Miller tied for the Democratic nomination. The official count, including absentee ballots, is to begin on Friday of this week.

Renovo area representative Butch Knauff is currently board vice-president. The next regular board meeting is scheduled for June 18.
