Joseph Allen Sementelli

Joseph Allen Sementelli, 88, of Flemington passed away Friday, March 11, 2022 surrounded by family at UPMC Lock Haven.

Born January 9, 1934 in Lock Haven, he was a son of the late John and Philomena (Grande) Sementelli.

Joe was a proud member of the Lock High School football team, graduating in 1952.

He then served in the United States Navy for four years, until 1956.

On November 22, 1957, he married his love, the former Kathryn Louise Cummings, with whom he shared almost 45 years of marriage before her passing on October 28, 2002.

Joe was employed at Hammermill Paper Co. for 32 years, from 1956 until 1988.  For the next eight years he worked as a custodian for Keystone Central School District until his retirement.

In his earlier years, he was a volunteer with the Castanea Fire Department.  He was also a member and director of the Castanea Social Club.

Joe loved watching and listening to both high school and college football and wrestling, especially the former Lock Haven Bobcats as well as the current Central Mountain and Penn State teams.

He enjoyed doing wordsearch puzzles.

Surviving is his daughter, Denise Kay Sementelli of Flemington; two brothers, William Sementelli of Beech Creek and Thomas (Betty) Sementelli of East Petersburg; a son-in-law, Richard Irvin of Mill Hall; four grandchildren: Joseph (Amy) McCloskey of Georgia, Carrie (Jeremy) Keefer of Collomsville, Brian McCloskey of Linden and Kathryn McCloskey of Flemington; and five great grandchildren: Elizabeth and Joseph, Jr. “J.J.” McCloskey, Camdyn Mason and Jackson and Beckett Keefer.

In addition to his parents and wife, Kathryn Sementelli, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Toni Marie Irvin and Kimberly Jo Sementelli; and ten siblings: Dominic, Anthony, James, John, Louis, Mary, Isabella, Frances, Rhoda and Patricia.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at 7 P.M. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, Pa 17745.  Private interment will be at Dunnstown Cemetery.

Friends and family will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5:30 P.M. until the time of the service.
