Sylvia J. “Sissy” Myers

Obituary

Sylvia J. “Sissy” Myers, 79, of 43 Shady Lane, Lamar, passed away unexpectedly on February 23, 2022, at her home.

Born on May 1, 1942, in Renovo, she was the daughter of the late Alvin Getz and
Adeline (Wagner) Serafini.

On September 13, 1958, at the East Main Street Methodist Church in Lock Haven, she married the love of her life, George A. Myers, who survives at home. They shared a wonderful 63 years of marriage together.

Before becoming a full-time homemaker, she was employed by Bobby Brooks Sewing, Cobbler’s Shoe Factory, and The Lock Haven Express.  Once in retirement, she spent many years driving her many friends from the local Amish communities until her declining health no longer allowed her to do so.

Most of all, she loved her family and her two dachshunds, Merlin and Toby, who never left her side.

She enjoyed bird watching, Penn State Football, and celebrating all of the holidays with family and friends.  Each summer she especially looked forward to the Getz-Serafini Reunion with all her family.

Sylvia was an amazing mother, wife, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a great friend to all she crossed paths with.

Surviving are two children, Gary (Mary) Myers of McElhatten and Lisa Myers of Lamar; a foster daughter, Kathy (Tommy) Armstrong of Hayden, AL; five grandchildren: Matthew (Michelle) Myers of Shamokin Dam, Ashley Simcox of Carlisle, Tyler Butler of Lamar, Bradley (Sarah) Myers of Mill Hall, Rachel (John) Pepperman of Williamsport; five great-grandchildren: Alexa and Aiden Simcox of Carlisle, Morgan and Dylan Pepperman of Williamsport and Hadleigh Myers of Mill Hall; and five siblings: Ronald (Gloria) Getz of Renovo, Ernest (Dorothy) Getz of Farwell, William (Ginny) Serafini of Renovo, Robert (Trudy) Serafini of Renovo and James Serafini of Olean, NY along with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers: William, Donald, and Gerald Getz and one sister, Kay Conser.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at 12 Noon at Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, PA 17745.  Private interment will take place at Highland Cemetery, Lock Haven.

Friends and family will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 6 until 8 PM and again on Saturday from 11 AM until the time of the service.
