Chester (Moose) Francis Orsin III
Obituary
Chester (Moose) Orsin III, of Salona, PA died on January 9, 2022 at the age of 73, due to complications from Lupus. Moose was born on August 7, 1948 in Lock Haven, PA. He graduated from BEN High School in 1966. He spent 2 years studying at Penn State University before he left to focus on his own endeavors. In August of 1975, he completed his apprenticeship and joined the Bricklayers, Masons Local Union #19.
He worked at the Dutch Inn during the sixties and walked many miles to hear the music at Woodstock, before dedicating his time to the finer points of masonry and bricklaying. In the mid 70’s he was co-owner of G&O Chimney Sweeps in Mill Hall. While Moose spent many years as a Union bricklayer, he also took jobs all around the country for masonry including “hot work” for Corning furnaces, and Indonesia as a foreman.
He has built many local fireplaces, walk-ways, stone walls and pottery kilns, most which still exist in the Clinton County area. He was an artist with stone and built structures of his own design in many a yard.
He gave more that he took in life. He relentlessly pursued knowledge of both physical and spiritual realms, and he was an extremely adept conversationalist. He helped any friend in need with whatever was needed, without question. He was always there for those that knew him, and he saw the good in everyone he met. He knew the importance of seeing friends and family and how to live in the moment. He understood the larger meaning of life and the power of positive thought, attitude, and healthy eating.
His love for family and friends and his staunch support for them in every way was evident. He doted on his son, daughter in-law and grandsons. He was present always and supportive for them all their lives.
Moose is survived by his son, Jason and wife, Kelissa; two grandchildren, Jaxson and Xander ; brother, Edward; two nieces, Evanna Butler and Jo Orsin; former wife, Elizabeth (Stehman) Seeber; two aunts, Betty Heckle and Sara Watkins; as well as many cousins. He was predeceased by his sister Gayle (Orsin) Day; and his parents, Francis Chester Orsin and Harriet Ann (Watkins) Orsin.
In lieu of flowers, he wished for everyone to treat each other with kindness, stay in touch with friends and family, and give to those in need.
A celebration of life is in the planning for June in Lock Haven. Details to be released soon.
