Obituary
Phyllis L. Newberry, 86, of Lock Haven, passed away Sunday, January 16, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family.
Born, December 11, 1935 in Hublersburg, she was the daughter of late Kenneth R. and Ruth V. Sampsell Gummo.
After graduating from Walker Township High School, Phyllis followed her dream of earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Business from South Hills School of Business.
On December 1, 1953, Phyllis married the love of her life, Donald E. Newberry, Sr., with whom she shared almost 60 years of marriage before his passing on March 4, 2013.
She was employed at Woolrich. Later in life, Phyllis loved working at Walmart where she greeted numerous customers with her unforgettable smile.
Phyllis was a devoted Christian and a member of Gods Eternal Life Church, devoted to both playing the organ and singing in the choir.
She enjoyed sewing as well as playing Bingo and cards. Phyllis was also an avid NASCAR fan, cheering on the late Dale Earnhardt, Sr.
She leaves behind her sons, Kenneth (Laurie) Newberry of Delaware and Donald (Pamela) Newberry, Jr. of Howard as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Phillip William Newberry and a grandson, Robert William Newberry.
Private services will be held at the convenience of her family. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park.
