America 250PA Mosaic Project Brings Community Art to Renovo

By Kevin Rauch

RENOVO – The Clinton County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Commission for the United States Semiquincentennial (America 250PA) brought their Clinton County Mosaic Project to the Renovo Area Public Library on Saturday, inviting people of all ages to stop in and participate.

The Mural Mosaic project seeks to have Clinton County residents paint 750 tiles that will ultimately be used to make a large mural, to be unveiled at a yet revealed place in July of 2026.
The project will prove to be a fascinating artistic achievement.

No matter what an artist’s skill level is, the small tiles can be painted into anything that the mind of the painter desires. The tiles and paints are provided, people just paint and turn their creations over.

Ultimately in July, a mural will be unveiled whereas the 750 individual tiles will from a distance depict a small deer eating underneath a tree with water and mountainous background. Of course if you walk up to within just a few feet of the mural you would see the individual tiles, including your own, rather than the larger picture that can be seen from afar.

Elizabeth Whitty is a member of America250PA and will return to the Renovo library on Tuesday with more blank tiles awaiting people’s visions. Whitty can also host the tile paintings at other locations and can be reached at ewhitty@clintoncountypa.gov or by calling 570-893-4080.

America250PA hopes to engage all citizens of the Commonwealth, from all 67 counties, in bringing the Commonwealth’s history into the conversation so Pennsylvanians can better understand the origins and multiple perspectives of issues facing the Commonwealth and nation today, and to use history to encourage and inspire future leaders and to celebrate the contributions of the Commonwealth.
