Eck takes title at D-6 track meet; onto states

ALTOONA, PA – Central Mountain’s Mallory Eck had quite the day at the District 6 AAA track and field meet at Mansion Park in Altoona on Thursday.

The Lady Wildcat took first place in the shot put and second in the javelin to pace Central Mountain to 87 points and fourth place in the eight team competition. Eck’s winning toss was 34-9.5 and earned her a trip to the PIAA championships in Shippensburg on Thursday.

Eck’s teammate, Alyssa VanGorder finished in second place in the shot put. CM’s Ashley Rich took second the 100 hurdles and Lily Hendricks came home with thirds in both the long jump and high jump. Mckenna Fox claimed a third in the discus, among notable Lady ‘Cat showings.

Top performer on the boys’ side was junior Brett Gerlach. He took second in the high jump and third in the triple jump. The boys’ team finished sixth among nine teams with 38 points.
