Bucks Roll over CMVT, 50-8

BLOOMSBURG, PA – The Bucktail Bucks traveled east on Interstate 80 in quest of their first 2020 win. Win it they did, piling up seven touchdowns on the way to a 50-8 mercy rule victory over Columbia-Montour Vo-Tech.

The home-standing Rams took the opening kickoff and traveled into Buck territory but turned the ball over on downs. Bucktail took over on its 27-yardline and moved quickly for the score. Zach Pick had a 28-yard run to midfield and a short while later quarterback Dylan Cross hit Pick in the end-zone for a 48-yard touchdown. Gage Sutliff converted the 2-point try for extra point and the Bucks had an 8-0 lead and never looked back.

Later in the first period, Cross went in from one yard out, the extra point no good, Bucks up 14-0. Bucktail added a second period score when Sutliff went in from 26 yards, Pick with the 2-point conversion for a 22-0 lead. CMVT got a late second period score and 2-point conversion to put the halftime score at 22-8, Bucktail.

Bucktail received the second half kickoff and mounted a better than five minute drive for its next score. The drive was sparked by a fake punt from Cross who ran for a first down. Sutliff scored the second of his three t-d’s; the rush for extra point no good, the score 28-8.

Connor Mason returned to the Buck lineup for the first time this season, coming off an injury, and picked up a 51-yard touchdown in period three, the rush for extra point no good, the score 34-8. Bucktail early in the final period scored again when Sutliff went in from 15 yards out. Paul Risley got a chance to carry the ball and the Buck senior converted for two points to put the score at 42-8, Bucktail.

With reserves in for much of the rest of the game, Bucktail scored its final touchdown on a long run from quarterback Cross. Freshman Tanner Pettingill tacked on the 2-point conversion to put the final at 50-8.

With the win, the Bucks move to 1-3 on the year and will be on the road again next week, at South Williamsport (2-0), on Friday, Oct. 9. South downed Northwest on Friday by a 21-14 score.
