Fred Clayton Strouse, 91, of Lusk Run Rd., Mill Hall, passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Haven Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation, Lock Haven.

He was born in Salona on January 5, 1925, the son of the late Grover Cleveland & Rose Jane Shoemaker Strouse.

On December 3, 1955, Fred married the former Billie Lee Stevens, who preceded him in death May 13, 2002.

On November 10, 2005 in Mill Hall, he married the former Bertha From Quigg, who survives.

Fred served in the United States Navy on the USS Bataan as a 3rd Class Ship Service Man from June 23, 1943 until his Honorable Discharge December 16, 1945.

He was a member of the Lock Haven First Church of Christ and Cheerful Gleaners Sunday School Class.

Fred loved working outdoors, especially gardening.  He also enjoyed bowling.

He worked as a farmer before working at Piper Aircraft.  He then went to work for American Airline before becoming the owner of his restaurant in Florida.  Following that employment, Fred worked as an electrical contractor in California for 29 years until his retirement on July 31, 1993.

In addition to his wife Bertha, he is survived by a daughter, Ronnie Lee Strouse of California; a step-son, Allen (Marie) Quigg of Narvon; a sister, Charlotte Eleanor Cryder of Renovo; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Billie, and his parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings: Ralf Edward Strouse, Edith Margaret Muthler, Alice Mae Laubscher and Lydia Strouse.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at 12 p.m. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, Pa 17745 with Rev. Steve Salmon officiating.

Friends and family will be received at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Private burial will take place at Rest Haven Memorial Park, Lock Haven.
