Obituary – Francis E. Poorman, Sr.

Francis E. Poorman, Sr., 86, of Lock Haven passed away Sunday, June 8, 2025 at Jersey Shore Rehabilitation and Nursing.

Born July 27, 1938 in Lock Haven, he was a son of the late William and Martha (Haney) Poorman.
Fran was a 1956 graduate of Lock Haven High School and later earned his degree in small engines from Penn College of Technology.

On July 23, 1960, he married the former Sondra J. Farling, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage before her passing in 2016.

Fran was employed as a truck driver.

He was a life member of Citizens Hose Fire Company, Lock Haven.

Fran’s love for baseball started in his early years, affording him the opportunity to play in the 1949 Little League World Series. In 2020, he was inducted into the Clinton and Centre County Baseball Hall of Fame. He watched many baseball games, cheering on his team, the Phillies.

In his younger years, Fran loved playing music- specifically the drums.

He was an avid Penn State football fan and also enjoyed camping.

Surviving are his children: Francis (Kathy) Poorman, Jr. of Mill Hall, Doreen (Bob) Kessinger of Avis, Chuck Poorman (Shielia Neff) of Lock Haven and Phyllis Orndorf of Lock Haven; 11 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and a niece and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Sondra Poorman, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Poorman and son-in-law, Brian Orndorf.

Private services will be held for Fran’s family.
