Cruise for a Cure Rolls on Despite Rain, Raises Funds for Cancer Fight
By Kevin Rauch,
RENOVO-A little rain did not affect the enthusiastic riders of the 15th annual Cruise for a Cure as drivers and riders of ATV’s and UTV’s of all types took off from Renovo to head into the surrounding woods and forest roads Saturday morning. Of the 130 registered machines, 123 showed up as expected as all 223 total riders and passengers were all smiles and and merely looked at the all day light rain as a way to keep down the dust and dirt. Some even envied getting out and finding some unexpected mud.
The Bucktail Medical Center’s Relay for Life Team and Central Mountains ATV Club host the yearly event with proceeds going to the American Cancer Society. Many of the vehicles taking place in the event have signs and other mementos of deceased friends and family members, many of them having cancer related deaths. Much of the conversation between riders often centers around memories of their loved ones, as well as recollections of previous years’ Cruise for a Cure.
