Lester A. “Bud” Diehl, 90, a resident of Manor Care Nursing Home, Jersey Shore, formerly of Lock Haven and Flemington, died Friday March 18, 2016 at the Divine Providence Hospital Gatehouse Hospice, Williamsport.

He was born May 24, 1925 in Lock Haven.  On May 25, 1946 in Lock Haven he married his wife of 67 years, the former Betty May Andrus who preceded him in death December 16, 2013.

Bud was a 1943 graduate of Lock Haven High School.  He retired as the Manager of Sales and Service with Piper Aircraft Corporation.  He then worked for Textron, Williamsport until fully retiring.  He was an accomplished pilot and flight instructor and flew all over the world.

He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.  He was also a member of the Lock Haven Elks Lodge, and a past president of the West Branch River Association.  Bud played the bugle and was one of the original members of the Black Knights Drum & Bugle Corp.  He enjoyed hunting and was a charter member of the Buckhorn Hunting Club.  Bud lived for the times he spent with his family especially on his boat and river lot on the Susquehanna River.

He is survived by 4 daughters, Linda A. (Roman) Huzar, of Coopersburg, Cynthia S. (Harry) Romig, of Harrisburg, Debra K. (Rich) Bowers, of Mill Hall, and Betsy Jo (Tom) Bowes, of Wyomissing, 2 sons, Scott W. (Jodi), of Mill Hall, and Jon L. (Connie), of Lock Haven, a sister, Donna (Jim) Moore, of Beech Creek, 12 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.  In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Peggy and Patricia (Robert Taylor).

Private Funeral services will be at the convenience of the family.  Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Mill Hall.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High Street, Flemington.
