John W. “Jack” Kneedler, 94, of Beech Creek passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at his home.

Born in Cherry Tree on March 22, 1921, he was the son of the late L. Vernon and Frances Haagen Kneedler.

He was a 1939 graduate of Lock Haven High School.

On August 30, 1941 in Winchester, VA, Jack married the love of his life, the former Maxine M. “Kelly” McGill, who preceded him in death on July 4, 1998.

Jack was employed at Piper Aircraft during WWII, from 1940 until 1947. During that time, he earned his pilot’s license flying Cub Flyers.

He worked for 31 years as an Insurance Agent for Baltimore Life Insurance Company, retiring in 1981.

Jack was a member of Faith Chapel United Methodist Church, Howard, where he attended Sunday School and served as a Trustee as well as on the Pastor Parish Committee.

He was a member of Howard Area Lions Club.

In Jack’s earlier years he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was also an avid golfer and talented woodworker.

Between the years of 1941 and 1981 he played in numerous bands including the Edna Faye Band, Dukes, and Last Resort.

Surviving are many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Jack was preceded in death by a brother, George Kneedler; a sister, Erma Smith; and three half-sisters: Mary Martz, Mildred Young, and Georgia Smith.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 10 a.m. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington with Pastor Mark Johnson officiating. Private burial will take place at Hayes-Fearon Cemetery, Beech Creek.

Friends and family will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 6 until 8 P.M. The Howard Area Lions Club will present a service at 7:45 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jack’s name may be made to either Faith Chapel United Methodist Church or the Howard Area Lion’s Club through the funeral home.
