Alice R. Deihl – Obituary

ObitArtAlice R. “Chickie” Deihl, 83, of Mill Hall died February 18, 2016 at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

Born June 3, 1932 in Johnstown, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Charles R. and Alice Leffler Colbert.

She was a 1950 graduate of Johnstown High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree in H. & H. D. from Penn State in 1954.

She taught physical education for 39 years at Roosevelt High School, later middle school, in Williamsport.

She was a lifetime member of the Penn State Alumni Association and was a loyal Penn State sports and music fan. She belonged to the PSU Booster Clubs and was a member of the Board of Directors for “Back the Lions” and the Dance Team/Cheerleaders Booster Club. She also belonged to the State College Quarterback Club and Tailback Club as well as the Williamsport PS Club and Greater Susquehanna Valley.

Alice was a member of St. Luke’s United Church of Christ, Lock Haven.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an older brother, Charles Deihl, Jr.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at St. Luke’s United Church of Christ, 1175 W. Fourth St., Lock Haven on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at 7 P.M. with Rev. Patty Dodds officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to either Back the Lions, State College Cheerleaders and Dance Team Boosters, Penn State Singing Lions, Blue Band Fund with checks made out to Penn State and the memo line stating Blue Band, or St. Luke’s United Church of Christ through the funeral home.
