Obituary – Scott Ray Kimble
Scott Ray Kimble, 63, of Bellefonte, PA, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2025 at Mt Nittany Medical Center in State College, PA.
He was born in Bellefonte, PA to Garnetta C. Wolaver and the late Robert L. (Bob) Kimble on February 2, 1962 along with his twin sister, Kathy. He went to Bellefonte Area High School and graduated in 1980 and went on to earn an Associates Degree from the Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology in 1982.
Scott began his professional career after college graduation working for HRB Systems Inc., where he worked as a contractor for the Department of Defense. He would go on to work for various companies continuing his role as a contractor for the DoD. Scott spent a couple of years of his life abroad, in places like Japan and Germany while also working in the Arctic Circle in Alaska. He often joked with his children and those close to him that were curious about the early days of his career, that he would have to kill them if he told them what he did for work. He was a well-traveled and cultured man who said on his deathbed, that he had “lived the lives of 4 people” when comforting his mourning children. In 2014, he purchased his own company named Broadband Networks Inc. where he worked until the date of his passing. Scott was a CEO, hardware, and software engineer, who created fiber optic networks that supported residential and commercial clients. In his later years, he shared one of his true talents and passions… cooking. Many events in the community benefited from his talent as he catered large events as a side gig, serving mouthwatering BBQ. A passion he would pass on to both of his sons.
Scott had a plethora of hobbies and interests including but not limited to; hunting, fishing, golf, NASCAR, the banjo, cooking, motorcycles, hot rods, guns and most of all, talking. He passed on his love for the outdoors and nature to his two sons who spent many years hunting and fishing with him at their camp, Black Wolf Rod and Gun Club. He spent many weekends in a camper, surrounded by friends at various NASCAR racing venues like Bristol, Charlotte and Dover. Stories of these weekends will be told long after his passing. It was commonplace to walk into his home on any random day and hear him practicing chords on his banjo, usually the same chords you heard during the previous visit. He loved tinkering, and that love led him to find a passion in gun building. Particularly building beautiful, yet functional muzzleloaders, called Pennsylvania Long Rifles. Scott also loved his lake house, located on Keuka Lake in New York. Here, he would enjoy time with family, especially his grandson, Braylen, and pursue his love of golf with his best friend, Dave as members of Lakeside Country Club. Dave and Scott enjoyed a ‘K’ and ‘L’ scoring system which stood for ‘Kinda’ and ‘Legit’ which would be labeled under the score for each hole. After a round, you would find him enjoying a cocktail of gin or bourbon on the deck, watching the water and relaxing with two of his best friends, Dave and Lynda. However, if you asked Scott in his later years what his true passions were, his answer would be being a grandfather or “Papa” as he was called and cooking for his loved ones.
Scott is survived by his two sons; Zack (Katie – his favorite child) Kimble of Pleasant Gap, and Ryan Kimble of Alexandria, VA; three grandchildren, Braylen, Ellie and Nora of Pleasant Gap.
Also surviving is his mother; Garnetta Kimble of Bellefonte; three siblings, Larry Kimble of Bellefonte, Kathy (Brad) Eckley of Columbia, MD, Robb (Lea) Kimble of Howard; two nieces, Paige Eckley of New York, NY, and Kayla Kimble of Pittsburgh; and two nephews, Evan (Laura) Eckley of Westminster, MD, and Ethan Eckley of Columbia, MD. Scott is predeceased by his father; Robert Kimble and uncle, Max Kimble.
There will be no service held, per his request. Scott’s wishes were that his ashes be spread in a private family event at various locations. A celebration of life will be held for close family and friends on a later, undetermined date.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Mt Nittany Medical Center staff and the nurses of the ICU. You made his stay comfortable and treated him and his family like your own during his final days.
