Cynthia Ann Grenninger

Cynthia Ann (Leathers) Grenninger went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Jan. 22, 2016, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer, she is now healed.

Cindy was the daughter of Charles (Kipe) and Alma Leathers and was born on March 20, 1951. Cindy was the wife of Dennis Grenninger. They were married March 4, 1972, and are the parents of two beautiful children, a daughter, Christine (Michael) Schoener and a son, Michael, her two grandchildren, which she adored, Evan Charles and Lydia Ann Schooner.

Cindy is also survived by her only sister, Sue Ellen Kinley, her husband David and their sons, Christopher and Jason Kinley.

Cindy was a 1969 graduate of Lock Haven High School, attended the Williamsport School of Nursing, graduated with her RN diploma and then continued her education by graduating from Penn State with her bachelorás degree in nursing and certificate in management in 1997. She is a member of the Golden Key Society and Sigma Theta Tau International Honors Society of nursing. Cindy was also recognized as a young professional woman by Strathmore Who’s Who, Cambridge Who’s Who, and The National Reference Institute Who’s Who of Women Executives. Cindy was also a member of the Women of Moose Chapter 218.

She had a passion for helping others and demonstrated that throughout her nursing career. She was employed by the Jersey Shore Hospital since 1992, and had a focus on education and cardiac care.  Earlier in her nursing career she worked at the Williamsport Hospital, Lock Haven Hospital and Great Falls Deaconess in Montana, with a love for critical care nursing.

During her life Cindy enjoyed reading, sewing, baking, crocheting and being creative with her embroidery. She was a member of Saint Luke’s United Church of Christ in Lock Haven. Cindy was an active participant in the reunions and parades for the Lockets.

Cindy’s wish was that people would celebrate her life and not mourn her death. In honoring that wish, her family invites her friends and loved ones to join them in a celebration of Cindy’s life to be held at Saint Luke’s United Church of Christ, 1175 W. Fourth St., Lock Haven. Visitation will be 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2016, and a memorial service will be 6:30 to 7 p.m. Refreshments and fellowship to follow.

The flowers will be provided by the family. At Cindy’s request donations can be made in her memory to her church, Saint Luke’s United Church of Christ, Lock Haven or the Hershey Medical Center-Pediatric Cardiology Department.

Cindy’s thought to share with others was “enjoy life one day at a time.”
