Dakota Holdren dominates as Lady Phoenix down Benton 19-1

BENTON- Dakota Holdren was in the zone on Monday afternoon for Sugar Valley. Holdren would fan 12 Lady Tiger batters and the Lady Phoenix would pound out 15 hits and down Benton 19-1 on the road.
Sugar Valley started off hot by scoring 6 first inning runs before the host Lady Tigers would score their only run of the game.
The Lady Phoenix would add six runs in the top of the third inning, a pair in their next at bat and would cap off their best offensive display of the season with 5 more runs in the top of the fifth to force the mercy rule.
Sugar Valley rode the arm of Holdren, who allowed just 3 hits in 5 innings of work.
Olivia Johnson collected 3 hits, as Holdren picked up a pair of base knocks to help her own cause. Brynn Swanger, Lily Mundrick and Cheyenne Weaver also had two hits each. Swanger collected a triple and a double, while Weaver and Mundrick had a doubles.
Ellyn Scarborough, Evangeline Andrus, Hattie Cinnamon and Lyla Breon also had hits for Sugar Valley. Breon’s hit was a double.
Sugar Valley will next meet Bucktail on Tuesday at home.
