Central Mountain blasts Shamokin 18-3 to end 2-game slide
By Bees O’Brien
SHAMOKIN- Following tough losses to Selinsgrove and Bald Eagle Area, the Central Mountain Wildcats baseball team was in desperate need of snapping their two game slide.
20 hits and 18 runs later they would do just that at Shamokin.
The Wildcats spotted the Indians 3 runs in the bottom of the first inning, following a three-run first inning of their own.
Neither team managed to cross the plate in the second inning, but CM would begin to tee off on the Shamokin pitching.
CM crossed three runs in the top of the third inning and then would open up the flood gates with 6 runs in each of the next two innings to help set the final at 18-3.
Austin Frank, who came in in relief midway through the first inning would pitch a gem for the Wildcats. Frank would allow no runs on just one hit while fanning 6 Indian batters to get the win.
Watt Probst and Kevin Grenninger led the Central Mountain hit parade with three hits each. Probst collected a double while driving in three runs. Blake Walker also collected three hits, including a double of his own.
Gardner Fravel, Connor Foltz and Brady Lavelle each had two base hits. Foltz connected on a home run, while Lavelle added a double.
Elek Fravel, Malaky Moyd, Chase Beard, Isaiah Maldonado and Thomas Sprague also grabbed hits in the CM win. Fravel and Moyd’s base hits were both doubles.
Now 10-3, the Wildcats will travel to Jersey Shore on Wednesday.
