Lady Bucks fall to state quarterfinalists West Branch on the road, 10-1
By Bees O’Brien
MORRISDALE- Bucktail’s Lady Bucks have been tested lately. That trend continued Monday afternoon on the road against defending District 6 1A and PIAA State Quarterfinalists West Branch and their standout pitcher Makenna Moore.
Moore held the potent Bucktail offense in check allowing just 5 hits, striking out 13 and only allowing a single run.
That lone Bucktail run came in the top of the first inning, but the host Lady Warriors would cross a run of their own to tie things up. West Branch would then plate 5 runs over the course of the next three innings to build a 6-1 lead.
West Branch rode the arm of Moore the rest of the way to victory.
The Lady Warriors added 4 more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to set the final. West Branch is now 10-1 on the season.
Makenna Stone led Bucktail with a pair of base hits. Eva Sockman, Kendall Wagner and Matti Mason also picked up base hits for the Lady Bucks.
Bucktail (9-2) will next travel to Sugar Valley (3-9) on Tuesday before they host another state power in South Williamsport (10-2) on Wednesday.
