Obituary -Beverly Selfe Johnson

Beverly Selfe Johnson, 98, passed away on May 13, 2025, at her home in McElhattan, surrounded by family. Born September 15, 1926, in Lock Haven, she was the daughter of the late John George Selfe and Sarah Maria (Brunner) Selfe.

On March 29, 1946, she married Charles William Johnson who preceded her in death on August 30, 1981.
Beverly is survived by her two children, Timothy Keith (Brenda) Johnson, and Carrie Ann Toner (Kerry); nine grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and her special friend of several years, Donald Weaver of Rote.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, three sisters, two sons, John Charles Johnson (Sharon) and Christopher Lee Johnson (Lee), and one grandchild, and one great grandchild.

Beverly worked during her senior year of high school at Stein Furniture Store doing bookkeeping. After graduation, she was hired by M.L. Claster & Son in Accounts Payable. Beverly took time off after she married, but returned to work at Montgomery Ward’s as a cashier. She again left work to raise her family. After her family was raised, she was hired by Keystone Central School District as a Private Secretary to Neil Gallagher, Director of Elementary Education, and retired from the School District after 20+ years of service.

While residing in Lock Haven, Beverly was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, and later transferred to the McElhattan United Methodist Church, and then transferred her membership to the McElhattan Pathway to Christ Church (formerly known as the McElhattan United Methodist Church). Beverly served on various committees for her church, and was particularly proud of her service as President of the Sunshine Ladies Women Society.

Funeral services for Beverly S. Johnson will be held Monday, May 19, 2025 at 1:00 pm in the McElhattan Pathway to Christ Church, McElhattan, PA. Officiating will be Pastor Laura Gilbert, interment will be in the Dunnstown Cemetery. Family and friends will be received in the church one hour prior to services at 1:00 pm.
