Foundation Support Beautifying the Community, One Volunteer at a Time

LOCK HAVEN – Dogwood Circle Garden Club’s work to beautify the community makes a difference and is seen by thousands of residents, visitors, motorists and pedestrians frequenting downtown. The club members’ work is supported by a Clinton County Community Foundation competitive grant.

The club recently conducted an initial clean up at the garden at Triangle Park and at the large, World War I monument at the 5-way intersection just down the street in Lock Haven. A planting day is set for 9 a.m. Thursday, May 22, also at the Triangle. Grant funding this year will pay for replacing the roses at the Monument with native shrubs and adding more perennials at the Triangle.

Here, Garden Club Member Judith Walker takes a moment amid working at the Monument. The club has a number of other members. They include Connie Barker, JoAnn Bowes, Svitlana Budzhak-Jones, Chryslynne Gray, Bonnie Hannis, Marion Hoffman, Katelyn Smith, Mary Vairo, and Jim Lovette.

Volunteers who started early for the recent cleanup included Deborah Spangler, Susan Bowland, Shonah Hunter and Barbara Pribble.
