Volunteers Stock Local Streams Ahead of Fishing Season
CHAPMAN TOWNSHIP – The Western Clinton Sportsmen’s Association (WCSA) and its Laurelly Fork Fish Hatchery stocked local streams with rainbow trout early Saturday morning.
Volunteers arrived early to help transport fish to Young Womans Creek, Hyner Run, Cooks Run, Halls Run, and Drurys Run. People of all ages pitched in, with young anglers especially excited to help net the fish and transfer them to transport containers.
Saturday, March 29, was also Mentored Youth Trout Day, giving young anglers a chance to fish alongside a licensed adult mentor from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
This annual event supports local wildlife, encourages teamwork, and teaches the value of volunteering. As the April 5 trout season opener approaches, WCSA continues its mission to conserve and protect the area’s natural resources.
