High powered Dragons too much for CM on the road
By Bees O’Brien
MARTINGSBURG- Central is one of the premier programs in all of District 6 and on Friday night at home against Central Mountain, they would prove that time and time again in their 73-48 victory over the Wildcats.
Central’s Eli Muthler was on fire. Muthler netted 14 of the Dragons’ 26 first quarter points to CM’s 8.
Central Mountain did play some good defense in the second quarter by shutting down the Dragons and Muthler. The Wildcats began to claw back into the contest with a 13-7 advantage.
Muthler and company stormed back in the third quarter by outscoring the Wildcats 21-9 to hold a 54-30 lead heading into the final quarter.
The Dragon edged CM 19-18 in the fourth quarter to set the final score.
Muthler led all scorers with his 34-point effort for Central. Max Verrelli’s 10 point night led Central Mountain.
Now 1-4, the Wildcats will next be in action on Wednesday when they are set to travel to Loyalsock to meet a perennial District IV power.
