Edith Pauline Kepler – Obituary

ObitArtEdith Pauline Kepler, 99, 154 9th St., Renovo, PA died Mar. 29, 2015 in the Bucktail Medical Center, S. Renovo, PA. Pauline was born nearly a century ago, Dec. 5, 1915 in the home where she was raised by her Swedish parents the late Elmer and Sadie Benson Thorsten. She continued to live in that home until her death.

In 1933 in Renovo, PA she married Ralph P. Kepler who died in Oct. 1966. Pauline was a life member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Renovo, PA. She had been employed at the former A & P store in Renovo for 34 yrs. retiring in 1977. Her Swedish heritage became a great source of pride and passion. Over the years Pauline enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, knitting and she had a great love of the outdoors especially her time spent at camp in Hammersley Fork.

She is survived by: one son Roger T. (Honey) Kepler, Hyner, one sister Betty Kirk, Yardley, PA; five grandchildren: Sandy (Walt) Dickey, Beech Creek, PA; Steven (Donna) Kepler, Howard, PA; Keith (Rose) Kepler, Westerville, Ohio; Kevin (Mary) Kepler, Lewistown, Montana and Lydia (John) Everhart, State College, PA; fourteen great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, two step- great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son R. David Kepler who died Jan. 5, 2008, one sister, and two brothers.

Memorial services will be held Thurs., April 2, 2015 at 11 AM in the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Renovo, PA with Rev. John Harwood, her pastor, officiating. Friends will be received at the church one hour before the service. Interment North Bend Cemetery, North Bend, PA. Rather than flowers, at Pauline’s request, memorials in her name may be made to the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
