Obituary – Marilyn J. “Teenie” Steele

Marilyn J. “Teenie” Steele, 91, of Lock Haven, passed away Thursday, October 24, 2024, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born in Lock Haven on December 15, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Laura Warner Temons.

Marilyn was a 1951 graduate of Immaculate Conception Catholic High School, Lock Haven. She worked in the composing room as a linotype operator for The Lock Haven Express. She then went on to work for another local newspaper in the Buffalo, New York, area for many years before finally retiring and returning home to Lock Haven to live near her family.

She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Parish, attending Immaculate Conception Church in Lock Haven.

She was married to Larry G. Steele, who preceded her in death in 1992.

Marilyn loved to brag about her children and grandchildren. She is survived by three children, Catherine “Cat” (Thomas) Jackman of Warren, PA, Thomas Steele of McElhattan, and Molly (Thomas) Steele-Schrimp of Williamsport, as well as her “bonus daughter,” Melissa “Missy” Savrock Monoski of Lock Haven. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, David Lind, Michael Lind, Bradley Lind, Miranda Lind, Ryan Schrimp, Brandon Schrimp, and Cameron Steele; thirteen great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.

Marilyn was the last of a generation. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Elizabeth “Betty” Stahl, Dorothy McCaslin, Teresa “Tess” Hivicdko, and Julia “Sis” Savrock; and three brothers, James “Dee” Temons, Ferd Wetzel, and Rodney Temons.

Friends and family will be received for a time of viewing on Monday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. at the Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington, PA 17745.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at 2 P.M. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 310 W. Water St., Lock Haven, PA 17745 with Rev. Father Joseph Orr officiating.

A celebration of life will be held, after funeral services, at 2496 Sugar Run Road in Lock Haven. All are welcome to attend.
